About Joel Cox

Hi, I’m Joel Cox — a Technology Generalist, Podcast Publisher, Solution Intuition Specialist, and lifelong Maker.

With a technology career spanning from 1995 to the present, I bring nearly three decades of experience across a range of domains, including data engineering, automation, and IT consulting. For the past 8 years, I’ve specialized as a Data Engineer, focusing on developing automated data pipelines, optimizing database workflows, and delivering innovative digital solutions. Before that, I spent 7 years as a Technology Specialist in a school district, managing IT infrastructure and supporting educational technology.

In 2005, I founded Comrald Computing Services, providing high-quality, tailored IT solutions—everything from hardware troubleshooting and virus removal to network setup and cloud services. My goal has always been to empower clients with technology solutions that solve their specific challenges. Over the years, I also created a streamlined podcast publishing solution using WordPress and AWS, simplifying workflows for content creators.

Today, I co-host The Mensch and The Machine, a podcast where we dive into topics like self-development, technology, and existential questions.

Building on my experience, I’m now expanding my services to include Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions. Using my “Solution Intuition”—an intuitive understanding of how to approach complex problems—I offer custom digital services that enhance operational efficiency and solve business challenges through innovative software solutions.

Long before “maker” became a term, I was already deeply involved in building and tinkering with electronics. One of my favorite childhood toys was a 200-in-1 project kit, and I spent countless hours—and much of my allowance—at Radio Shack buying parts to create my projects. Since I was a kid, I’ve built custom game controllers, worked extensively with microcontrollers to solve real-world problems, and continued this passion for hands-on creation throughout my career.

I am a lifelong learner and have taught myself Linux, maintaining a home server, and managing my own mail server and websites hosted in the cloud.
